  • Estates General Called

    Estates General Called
    King Louis XVI called the Estates General for the first time in 175 years. The financial and political situation got really bad. All three estates were at the meeting on this day. This event started the French Revolution. The first and 2nd Estate made it east to vote against the 3rd estate because the two estaters would join together against the 3rd estate. The third Estate planned to be against the king but the two other estates were for the king.
  • National Assembly Formed

    National Assembly Formed
    One month after the Estates General met at Versailles, the third estate declared themselves "The National Assembly". The Third Estate Made up of roughly 98% of the population. The main purpose behind creating the National Assembly was to restrict the monarchy's power and create a constitutional monarchy. Unfortunately the assembly failed because the three estates couldn't decide how to vote during the Estates General.

    The National Assembly moved to an open tennis court and swore to not stop meeting until France had a constitution. The National Assembly said "We swear never to separate and to meet wherever circumstances require until the kingdom's Constitution is established and grounded on solid foundations.”
  • The Storming of the Bastille

    The Storming of the Bastille
    The Storming of Bastille marked the start of the French Revolution. The storming demonstrated that a force of people could challenge a monarchy and overpower it. During the storming 98 attackers lost their lives and so did 1 defender. the king reacted by trying to use the military to stop the third estate
  • Woman's March on Versailles

    Woman's March on Versailles
    The crowd took over the palace in a violent manner. the pressed their demands on King Louis XVI and it worked. The very next day they forced King Louis and his family to go back with them to Paris. over the next few weeks a lot of the National Assembly also relocated to Paris. The lead cause of the storm was because the woman were fed up with the prices of bread continuing to rise.
  • Constitutional Monarchy Formed

    Constitutional Monarchy Formed
    France turned from an Absolute Monarchy to a Constitutional Monarchy. Turning to a Constitutional Monarchy aloud the third estate to have a say it things, aloud them to change things and make it better for everyone. It also limited voting to people who paid taxes.

    In 1792 the constitutional monarchy was overthrown by a mob. King Louis XVI and The National Convention declared thhat France was now a Republic
  • King Louis XVI beheaded

    King Louis XVI beheaded
    King Louis the XVI was publicly executed by guillotine during the French Revolution. His trial four days prior convicted him of treason in a near unanimous vote.
  • Reign of Terror Begins

    Reign of Terror Begins
    The Reign of Terror began for September 5th, 1793. It was lead by Maximilien Robespierre, The Reign of Terror saw public executions and mass killings of thousands of people who didn't agree with the revolution. 10 thousand people were not rightfully trialied. people could go and blame someone else for something they didn't do and be killed.

    Marie Antoinette was Austrian but Married King Louis XVI so Austria and France would have an alliance. The people of France hated Marie a lot. On October 19th 1793, She was convicted of treason and executed by guillotine.
  • Reign of Terror Ends

    Reign of Terror Ends
    Robespierre was the leader of the leader of the Reign of Terror. The Rain of Terror ended because Robespierre and the people who helped him were arrested and executed.
