  • The Jacobins

    In the early parts of 1791 people were starting to let it be known that they didn't like the king. Some people didn't want to have a king at all. These radical thinkers were the Jacobins. They thought they should have a Republic instead of a constitutional monarchy.
  • Champs de Mars Massacre

    The National Assembly sent in troops to the Champs de Mars to settle the crowd but things started to get out of hand . At first the officers were firing into the sky but when things got really bad they fired into the crowd killing about 50 people.
  • King Louis XVI Executed

    King Louis XVI was killed by guilltine. He was put on trial for treason do to his counterrevolutionary actions with foreign countries.
  • The Reign of Terror

    This 10-month period was a time where the Jacobins had seized control and were killing thousands and thousands of suspected enemies by guillotine.
  • Napoleon's Ascent to Power

    Napoleon set up a coup d'etat to overthrow the current government, the directory. He did this in 1799 but he didn't crown himself as emporer until 1804. This ended the Revolution but not the wars.
  • Napoleon's Exile to Elba

    Napoleon was exiled to the island of Elba in the early parts of 1815 after a defeat in 1814. He was able to escape to France and raise a new Grand Army.
  • Napoleon's 100 Days of Rule

    This event (which was actually 110 to be exact) was Napoleon's return from exile to Elba. In these days Napoleon was regaining his army. His rule began as soon as he got back to Paris and ended when King Louis XVIII returned on July 8,1815.
  • The Battle of Waterloo

    This was a battle between Napoleon's army and the Duke of Wellington's. This was the end of the Napoleonic Era in European history and this is also what got Napoleon exiled to Saint Helenas. What happened was We3llington's men had their allied men up against Napoleon's forces.
  • King Louis XVIII Enthroned

    King Louis returned to France ending Napoleon's 100 Day Rule. This was the descent of Napoleon's rule and ended the French Revolution. When King Louis took the thrown, he restored the monarchy.
  • Napoleon Dies in Exile

    This is Napoleon's second time being exiled. This time he is sent to the island of Saint Helena off the coast of Africa. He was sent to the island 1815. After six years of being on the island, he died. This put an end to the French Revolution and all the wars.
