Otto Lilienthal worked on designs for a glider by studying the way that birds fly. He then published a book that was also used by the Wright Brothers. He was killed when he was in one of his gliders and strong winds caused him to crash.

The Wright brothers, Wilbur and Orville attempted to fly their first airplane they had ever built. To decide who was gonna fly it first, they flipped a coin. Sadly, the first flight led the airplane nose-diving into the sand.
