The Hip Fitting Skirt
In the 1900's skirts for both day and night were invented with elongated trains on the back of the skirt. Hem ruffles, lace, and pleads were all added as decorative pieces to the skits. This was one of the first formfitting skirts. -
Hobble Skirt
The hobble skirt and lamp shade skirt was invented. The style during this time era became more radical. Defining shape became a large fashion statement and trend for women. -
Dresses Become Unfitted
The trend during this time era became simple and the main word used to describe women’s wear was simplicity. Hip lines became higher and women’s dresses became unfitted. Hem lines also started to sit just right above the ankle. -
Longer Hem Lines
The era of the depression ended up changing fashion and completely innovating it. Sinuous shapes and longer hems were taking over. Designers also started to experiment with new shapes and materials. -
Belts and Buttons
Now that the depression had ended the women in the United States had been deprived of the latest fashions from Paris. Belts at the waist line was popular and also large buttons on the front of jackets and blouses. -
Push It Up & Push It out
Hems fell and rose but one thing that remained the same was the hourglass shape. Pencil skirts emerged and were worn daily. Also the undergarments emerged such as bullet bras, corselets, and waist-cinchers. -
Queen of American Fashion
Fashion had evolved tremendously during this time. President Kennedy was elected and brought with him Jackie Kennedy one of the most fashionable women during the time. The short jacketed suit was born. -
Pant Suit/Day Wear
Women emerged in the work place during this time therefore more casual wear was necessary. Pant suits, day wear, and separates became all the trend. Skirts were worn a mini, midi, and maxi lengths. -
Over The Top
The 80's was a time of oversized, over the top, and over consumption. The power suit made its apperelance along with oversized shoulder pads. This was representation of womens new role in the work place. -
Grunge
The look in the 90's was amazing sloppy. Plaid was one of the most popular pattern in this time era. Overalls made there aperience, baggie jeans, denim anything, and slip dresses.
