Martin Luther is born to Hans Luder and his wife Margarethe in Eisleben, County of Mansfeld in the Holy Roman Empire.

Luther enrolls at the University to study Law at the request of his father.

It is believed that one day, Luther was traveling back to the university from home by horseback, when he got caught up in a thunderstorm. When lightning struck near him, he cried out " Help! Saint Anna, I will become a monk!'. He survived the storm, and not too long after, he left the University, sold his books and entered an Augustinian monastery.

In 1521, Luther began the translation of the New Testament to German using The Greek New Testament. He then publishes the translation in 1522.

Between 1526 and 1534, Luther had 6 children, two of which died early.
His children were; Johannes, Elisabeth (dies August 3rd,1528), Magdalena(dies September 20 1529, aged 13), Martin, Paul and Margaret. -
On February 18th, Martin Luther died in the town of his birth and baptism, Eisleben. On February 22nd 1546, his funeral is held at Wittenberg with a sermon preached by his closest friend and supporter, Phillip Melanchthon.
