The Printing Press
In 1440, Johann Gutenberg, a German inventor, invented the Printing Press. The Printing Press was made using metal molds and alloys, a special press, and oil based ink. Steam-Powered Rotary Drum Printing
The Steam-Powered Rotary Drum Printing, invented in 1443 by Richard March Hoe, greatly increased the speed of the job. This invention was first commercially used in the offices of the Philidelphia Public ledger and could print 8,000 pages per hour. The type on this press was placed on a revolving cylinder which ran on top of the paper. EARS
In 1938, Chester Carlson invented a dried printing method called electrophotography (Xerox), which became the foundation of the laser printer technology that followed. The first laser printer (EARS), was being developed at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center from 1969 to November, 1971. Stereolithograhy 3D Printer
Chuck Hull first invented the Sterolithography Apparatus in 1983. Stereolithography is the curing of liquid plastic using UV light. This product was used commercially by industries and businesses to build prototypes. Nowadays, the concepts of 3D printers are being applied to the medical field to construct body parts. HP DeskJet
The HP DeskJet was amongst the first inkjet printers available to the public. Invented by Hewlett Packard in 1988, it was the least-expensive ink jet printer on the market at the time, priced at $1,000. This 'drop-on-demand' printer used thermal technology to push the drops of ink out of the print head. By 1994, color printing was revolutionized when the DeskJet offered a color printing upgrade.
