Wikipedia, a popular website where anyone can go on and post information about any topic, was first launched. -
Friendster Began
Friendster is a social gaming site that lets you stay in touch with people and meet new friends. -
Hi5, MySpace
Hi5 is a social media site that makes it very easy for you to learn about other people and see who you may share common interests and such with. MySpace lets you post things like photos, videos, and music and also create groups and blogs. -
Facebook, Orkut, Flickr
All three of these social media sites were introduced in 2004, although Facebook was only for Harvard students. Both Facebook and Orkut were designed to help you meet new people and stay in touch with friends. Flickr was mostly used to post videos. -
YouTube and Reddit Launched
YouTube I'm sure you've heard of. It is used to post videos of any kind and almost anyone that has access to the internet can view them. Reddit is used for users to vote on content like different websites and the ones with the most votes are on the front page. -
Facebook, Twitter
Facebook was now available to the public and Twitter was introduced. When using Twitter, you can read and post little "Tweets", which are short posts. -
Tumblr Introduced
Tumblr lets you share about anythign on a blog you create. -
WhatsApp Launched
WhatsApp is an app that allows you to text anyone around the world (that has internet service). -
Snapchat, Tinder Introduced
Snapchat is mostly used to post pictures and videos that will go away after a little bit, and also can be used for messaging. Tinder helps you meet people based on your location and if you like each other's posts. -
Vine Launched
Vine is a social networking app that allows users to upload as many short videos as they want. -
Pheed Launched
Pheed is a social networking app that combines a lot of popular social networking sites and apps together.
