    The CD was co-founded by the well-known electronic companies "Philips" and "Sony", and was made by James Russell in 1980. The first one manufactured was in 1982. It was an upgrade from the vinyl records, because these could go for longer and were smaller.

    In 1983, the camcorder was introduced by Jerome Lemelson. The first one was large, and it sat on the recorder's shoulder. Later on smaller ones were made that were handheld and portable.

    In 1983, the first mobile cell phone was released by the company, "Motorola" and was made by Martin Cooper. The DynaTAC 8000x became the first handheld phone to make a successful call. This call happened on April 3, 1973, but the actual phone wasn't made available until 1983.

    On the 26th of October in 2000, Sony Interactive Entertainment released their second model of the Play station: The Ps2, in North America. It was first released in Japan on March 4. This became an instant hit and a bestseller.

    On February 4, 2004, a breakthrough in social media occurred. Mark Zuckerberg and his team have released Facebook; a digital media platform used to connect with others through pictures.

    Apple introduced the popular iPhone to the United States on January 29, 2007. The iPhone is similar to the iPad (Which was to be released later), except it had a smaller screen and was more portable. The phone was meant to be carried around easily.

    On June 15, 2011, Jeffery Nelson introduced the Chromebook. It was a smaller computer, which was perfect for school. Students can carry these easily in their backpacks.
