    The enlightenment was when everything was challenged and when new ideas and belifes came apon people. Most people also attended church. The rulers were eather King or Queen. "Normal people" were made to be slaves. People begain to realise that they could believe new things. People also realised what the King and the church were doing, there were many technological advances in this time such as new means of transport.

    James Cook discovered the East Coast of Australia in 1770. James extended the land of the British Empire into the Southern Hemisphere. In 1778 the British settled in Sydney Cove then became part of the emerging New World. Part of the migrants of New South Wales often starved while waiting for fresh supplies from the nearest port that took up to six months to arrive. Because of the food coming in people started getting diseases in the Sydney Cove area.

    Most of the free settlers were famers, doctors or military officers looking for a better way of life in Australia. Free settlers had found their own transport and were quiet wealthy (rich). It was a big risk for them traveling to Australia but they did it to make their fortune. The free settlers were given a massive amount of land and convicts to slave after them. Life for free settlers was very harsh even with a big bit of land and slaves.

    day. In 1894 South Australian women were made women were named the first to vote in Australia, this means that Australia had a reputation for a ‘Laboratory for democracy’. In 1898, people voted for or against for Australia to be a federal constitution. In the end the people voted for Australia to be a federation, this was passed on the 5th of July 1900. The common wealth of Australia officially came in on the 1st of January 1901; the first laws were passes also in 1901.

    The assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
    The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was one of the main causes that started World War 1. He and his wife were killed by a Serbian nationalist when they were driving through Bosnia. They survived the first attempt of the assassination but the second attempt they were killed. This created a 'Snow Ball' effect and all the Europeans were at war after the death of the Hungarian Empire Austro's wife then soon came all the surrounding countries.

    Great Britain declared war on Germany on 4 August 1914. Joseph Cook (the Australian prime minister at the time), sent an important message to the British government. Joseph offered, in the message of war, to place the vessels of the Australian Navy under the British Admiralty. The force of 20 000 men were advised to go to any destination the Home Government wanted. Australia would be responsible for the organisation and transportation of this force.

As the ANZACS come into ANZAC cove on ships the Ottomans opened fire and attacked the ANZACS as they came in. Alot of people died.     Slavery and transportation of convicts are to examples of involuntary migration to the new world. They had no choice in the matter, that being forced against their wills to migrate. Voluntary migration is when people migrate voluntary to other country’s/places. This may be due to either ‘push’ or ‘pull’ factors. Push factors are reasons that drive people from their existing home to other places. Pull factors are reasons that make one area more attractive than another.
