U.S. Boycott of 1980 Olympics
The United States threatened to boycott the 1980 olympics placed in Moscow, if the Soviet Union did not withdraw from the war in Afghanistan. Therefore, America ended up boycotting the olympics of 1980. -
Strategic Defense Initiative
This defense system was created to protect America from any attacks. We made this to sectreley protect oursleves without letting the Soviet Union know that we would be prepared for any of their attacks. -

This was created to provide tariff benefits to Caribbean and Central American countries. We did this so other smaller countries could be traded. This benefotted ourselves as well as the other countries. -

Mikhail Gorbachev was the leader that decided to tone down matters with the Communist party and take away some of their powers. this led to the kidnapping of him and his resigning because nhe felt others should be of power. -
Iran-Contra Affair
This was a scandal during Regan's rein. We were selling arms to Iran in hopes that they would release hostages that they were holding. This led to the removal of United States National Security Council documents. -
Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty
This was a treaty between the United States and the Soviet Union. Both countries agreed to take away any majorly dangerous weapons such as short-range missiles. -

This was a very important day for the Soviet Union because it resembled change throughout. People were amazed by the nice workers and it was as if there was no war going on and everything was at peace once again. -
Germany is Reunified
Berlin was split and seperated from the rest of Germanic society. After they came together, Germany was considered a fully unified country once again. Berlin went back to being an independent city and Germany went back to being a unified country. -
Berlin Wall Collapses
The Belrin Wall seperated Berlin from the rest of Germany. The Berlin Wall was demolished in hopes that it would cause peace throughout Germany. It brought Berlin back ionto society acting as one with Germany. -
Boris Yelstin Elected President of Russia
Boris Yelstin wanted peace and changes throughout Russia. He was quite popular with the voters and won presidency twice. He made very important cvhanges such as turning their economy into a free market. -
Warsaw Pact is Dissolved
The Warsaw Pact protected countires in the East in times of need. This pact was no longer needed because it Eastern countries were forced from their Communist ways therefore having to neglect the Warsaw Pact. -
End of the Soviet Union
The Soviet Union ended for many reasons. Their military was refusing to fire and their economy was going down hill. The world only got better with the disolving of it. This led to many great things along with peace throughout the world for at least a little while.
