    This Operation was the massive military campaign designed by the Nazis in an attempt to invade and conquer Soviet Russia. This plan would eventually fail due to many bad decisions made by Hitler and his generals. The failing of this campaign would mark the turning point of this war, where now Germany was defending it's territories against onslaughts of Allied troops. In this operation, Germany lost massive numbers of military forces,
    which it never quite recovered from.

  • Battle of Moscow

    This battle was in a way the first turning point of the war on the Eastern Front, for it was the first major strategical defeat of the Germans on the Eastern War. The Germans attempted to capture the Soviet capital and largest city in a pincer movement, however the Soviets, with well prepared defences, successfuly fought of the Germans and launched a counter offensive. If Moscow was captured, the USSR would likely have collapsed and fell to the Germans.

    This battle was the largest land battle and armored battle on the Eastern Frontier, with massive numbers of troops, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces. This was also, quite possible, the largest land battle in the history of the world. This battle was an attempt by Germany to surround and destroy a massive portion of the Soviet army in a pincer movement.
