How did it come about ?
It was a $25000 bet, and It started by a horse race, and pictures were taken of the horse to determine if the horses feet were touching the ground. they used the pictures, put into a video, and determined it was true that they weren't touching the ground. So it was a sequence of still images.that allowed 1 to an audience. -
Who were the creators ?
Thomas Edison liked the idea that there was only 1 per audience, and he rode with the idea, and made profits ff of it. But the Lumiere brothers came up with the idea that Edison was trying to do instead they called it Cinematographe. -
When did they stat making films ?
In 1895 they started to make short films, which were 30 to 60 seconds long. they started to show in France cafe, and charged a 1 franc admission fee admission. -

Well Vaudeville was very popular. to get a bad start on his opponents he used short films. And in this time period he went to Nickelodeon which were (small theatre that played feature films with piano music, and sound effects, and had 2 Vaudeville acts. -

Thomas Edison, and Edwin Porter created the first U.S. film. It was called ''The Great Train Robbery''. it was a real story line that introduced the idea of camera positions. It was 14 scenes, and 12 minutes long. -

Who were the MPPC ?
Led by Edison, several companies had a trust called the Motion Picture Patents Company. Lots of other business tried to do the same but were raided by the MPPC. Films were originally filmed on the East Coast of the U.S. but it soon changed. -
