Workmen's Huts
After many unsuccsseful years Lord Carnarvon decided to end searching for King Tutankamen's tomb. But Howard Carter convinced him to continue for one last season.
It was soon after the first season had begun that Carter instructed his workers to remove the workmen's huts at the base of the tomb of Rameses VI.
With the huts removed and documented Carter began to excavate the ground underneath.
On the fourth day a step cut into the rock was exposed. Eventually 12 steps were exposed -
Beginning of the Tomb
Carter finds the steps leading to Tutankamen's tomb and asks Lord Carnarvon to come to Egypt. -
Howard contacts Lord Carnarvon
The 12 steps led to a blocked door. Carter inspected the door for clues to what could be behind it. He found the impressions of the royal mecropolis.
He was excited because he knew that the design was of the 18th dynasty. Knowing that the chances were good of a tomb of a noble was buried there, Carter ordered that the steps be covered back up until he could give notice of his discovery to Lord Carnarvon.

More Discoveries
On November 23rd Lord Carnarvon, accompanied by hs daughter, Lady Evelyn Herbert, arrived in Luxor, Egypt.
The next day the workers began to expose the stairway. This time, they dug further and exposed 16 steps. The whole doorway was exposed and at the bottom were several seals with Tutankamen's name on them.

The Mummy is Revealed
After many months of carefully revealing the content of the tomb, it was time to open King Tut's coffin. The coffin was in the shape of a person about 7 feet long.
When they lifted the lid a smaller coffin was revealed. The second coffin revealed a third. The third one was completely gold. The royal mummy of Tutankamen was revealed. -

King Tut's Injuries
A team of Egyptian scientists lead by Dr. Zahi Hwass, the Secretary General of theEgyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities, conduct a CT scanon the mummy revealing that the skull injury was likely to have been caused during the embalming process. Damage to the left thighbone suggested thatTutankamen badly broke his leg befoe he died, and his leg became infected. -
King Tut's Father
DNA tests confirm that he was the son of Akhenaten and Akhenaten's sister, who was also his wife.
