Solid Sphere Model
This was the first atomic model. It was made in the 19th Century by John Dalton. He thought that an atom could not be divided into smaller particles. He came up with this with his research in gases. -
The Plum Pudding Model
Thompson did experiments with cathode ray tubes and he found that all atoms have tiny negatively charged subatomic particles or electrons. Thompson made the Plum Pudding Model that had negatively charged electrons embedded in a positively charged "soup". -
The Nuclear Model
Rutheford thought the atom looked like a miniature solar system. He thought of it as electrons orbiting around a huge nucleus. He thought that it was also mostly made up of empty space and that the nucleus was only a little part of the atom. -
The Bohr Model
The Bohr model is similar to the Rutheford model so some people all it the Rutheford-Bohr model. The Bohr model is an atom that has a small positively charged nucleus that has negative charged electrons orbiting it. -
Quantum Mechanics Model
In the Quantum Mechanics model treats electrons as matter waves. An electron can have 2 different spin values. They can spin up or spin down. With any 2 electrons that are in the same orbital space they must be spinning 2 different ways. -
