Margot's Birthday
On this date was Margot's birthday. Anne goes in the attic to get some potatoes. Then, Peter and Anne talk together. She sees that Peter needs more affection, so that is why he hugs his cat Mouschi often. -
The Red Army
On February 17, the Red Army accepts the surrender. There are nearly twenty thousand German Eight Army troops. These are among those who were trapped earlier that month. However, most of the Germans, about fifty-five thousand, went down fighting. -
Anne and Peter
On Friday, 18 February 1944, Anne Frank writes the feelings she has for Peter. When she goes upstairs, she always wishes to see him. Her talks with Peter give her confidence and friendship. However, her mother doesn't like it much and says to Anne that she will be a nuisance to Peter. -
French Resistance
On February 18, seventy members of the French Resistance were sitting on death row. They were in Amiens Prison in Nazi-occupied France. The Allied threw bombs where they were located. These bombs damaged the walls of their cells, so they could now escape. -
Alone again
Anne tells us that she doesn't know how to reach Peter. She cries and thinks she has imagined that she was special. She also says that Peter does not need her to confide. Anne is scared of being alone again. -
Greek partisans sabotage
On February 22, Greek partisans made a sabotage for the Germans. They damaged a track used by Germans troop trains. As a result, a train went into a valley. About four hundreds German soldiers were dead. -
Inward compensation
Anne is now going upstairs every morning to see Peter. When she looks outside at the blue sky, she comes to the revelation that while she misses outward or material thing, she still has her inward compensation, which is her happiness with Peter.
