Tom Walker and his wife are introduced, they are described as Miserly and willing to do anything for money -
Rising Action
Tom refuses to make the deal with the devil simply to spite his wife, his wife goes into the woods to attempt to make the deal in his stead. His wife does not return, Tom takes the deal with the Devil and becomes an usurer in Boston. -
Climax
Tom becomes extremely wealthy using the ill-gotten wealth from the devil to grow his business. He begins to worry about his soul, and becomes an avid churchgoer. He continues his business, and one day, while arguing with a debtor, he hears three loud knocks on the door. -
Falling Action
The Devil comes and collect Tom Walker's soul. -
Resolution
The people of Boston attempt to divide up Tom Walker's wealth, but everything he owned disintegrates and his massive house burned to the ground.
