  • Menai Suspension Bridge

    Menai Suspension Bridge
    This was the first iron suspension bridge of its kind in the world, it was built by civil engineer Thomas Telford.

    It created a connection for local people with mainland and was also a quicker route to Holyhead for people catching the ferry to Ireland.
  • Britannia Bridge

    Britannia Bridge
    This bridge was designed by Robert Stephenson, the son of inventor George Stephenson, the Britannia Bridge's tubular design allowed the trains to run through the middle of eight wrought iron tubes, rather than on top, which was what people were expecting.

    It took the construction workers about 4 years to finish the construction of this bridge.

    The Clifton Suspension Bridge is closely associated with, designer and engineer, Isambard Brunel.

    It wasn't completed until after his death. It stands as an iconic representation of Victorian engineering.

    Known officially as the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, this is the designer and engineer Dr William Brown's bridge which was built across the Bosphorus Strait, reconnecting Europe and Asia for the first time since 512BC. It has had a large impact on the socio-economic development of Istanbul and of Turkey.

    Sutong Bridge
    Dr Robin Sham, is a specialist in the world's longest bridges. This bridge connects the people on either side of the Yantze River, reducing commuting time and boosting the local economy. It took construction workers just under 5 years to complete this bridge.

    Padma Bridge
    Another Dr Robin Sham marvel under construction. The multi-purpose bridge connects two Bangladesh regions, otherwise separated by the third largest river in the world. This two level steel truss bridge has a motorway on the upper level and a freight railway on the lower one.

  • Rotherhithe Bridge

    Rotherhithe Bridge
    The proposed 184m bridge will connect south east London to the Docklands, based on an initial design by Nik Randall. The bridge carry sustainable transport and is the only central London crossing to the east of Tower Bridge.
