The speeding Mercedes, driven by a chauffeur who was later found to have taken large amounts of alcohol beforehand, crashed into the 13th pillar in the Alma tunne on the right bank of the Seine River . -

The Death On September 1, 1997, at 4AM at Paris's Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital, Diana was declared dead. Prince Charles woke his sons, the Princes William and Harry at 4:30AM, to tell them that their mother was dead. The effect of the crash on the royal family was immediate, as the Princes were now without a mother. It also sparked a hatred for the paparazzi forever, since they were believed to be the ones who caused the accident. -

After the the major change to their lives, William and Harry were still able to live their lives normally, and though they were without a mother, their love for their late mother still stayed the same. Diana would be proud.
