Yalta Conference
Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt agreed to meet after the surrender to Germany to determine the postwar borders in Europe. -
Potsdam Conference
This was a meeting between US, British, and Soviet leaders after World War II to talk about dividing Germany and Austria into 4 zones. -
Bombing Hiroshima
This was the first bomb that the US dropped on Japan's big city to give a warning and sign to surrender, but Japan didn't. -
Bombing of Nagasaki
This is the second bombing from the US in Japan to get the Japanese to surrender, and they did. -
Churchill's Iron Curtain Speech
Churchill gave this speech to talk about the division of the countries and the different blocks to introduce/ explain everything that is about to happen. -

This was made for American foreign policy whose power was to encounter geopolitical expansion during the Cold War times. -

The purpose of this was to provide financial aid for Europeans countries cause of the damage that communism was making. -

Joseph Stalin blocked the roads to the French, British, and American sectors of the city of Berlin. -
NATO Formed
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization formed with Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States to protect freedoms and security. -

North Korea wanted to spread communism, due to the disagreement with the North and South Korean leaders, the war happened. -
Geneva Accords
This was a set of documents that ended the French war with the Vietminh and divided Vietnam into North and South states. -
Warsaw Pact
Agreement sought to increase the influence of each super power in turn over the other states involved. -
Hungarian Revolution
This was a Hungarian protest against Communist rule in Budapest at first, but it became a momentum quickly and on 24th October Soviet tanks entered Budapest. and made a new government that formed an introduction to democracy, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion. -
Suez Crisis
British and French force invaded Egypt to regain control of the Suez Canal which had been nationalized by the Egyptian leader Nasser. -
Space Race
USSR Sputnik II carried Laika the dog, the first living creature to go into space. -
Paris Summit
Soviet Union wanted Berlin to be a permanent ‘Free City’ with minimum military branches from other powers, and also wanted a Peace Treaty with East Germany.
