The Russian Revolution was caused by the mass amount of casualties lost in WWI. The country shot into chaos with members of Russian parliament taking control of the country and the separation of political groups. The political groups focused on spreading to the nation the red guard's horrible control. The Bolsheviks were the most powerful and supported group and overthrew the provisional government. And the Bolsheviks focused on ending their involvement in WWI . -

The Potsdam Conference was between the U.S.,Soviet Union and the United Kingdom. The conference was held at Cecilienhof by Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, Clement Attlee and President Harry S. Truman. The goal of this conference was to decide how to administer Germany and to work out peace treaty's, issues and reparations. -

The Hiroshima bomb was dropped august 6, 1945 and the Nagasaki bomb was dropped august 9, 1945. the bombs killed 226,000 people and most of them weer civilians. Iron Curtain
The Iron Curtain was a barrier setup by the Soviet Union to separate Europe between the communists states and the capitalist states. The barrier was called the Berlin wall. It stretched 4,300 miles and was made up of walls, minefields and watch towers. Russia had spread its communist agenda thought the east of Europe. Russia dominated this territory to act as a buffer zone in case of future invasion. -

The Marshall Plan was a plan made by the U.S. government to help nations financially that were opposing or fighting communism. This plan was made to help rebuild parts of Europe that needed it the most and were on the brink of converting to a communist nation. The U.S. gave out over 12 billion dollars to foreign countries. The main target was to rebuild factories to help the economy globally and locally. This was created by secretary of state Gorge Marshall. -
Berlin Blockade
The Berlin Blockade was a major crisis when the Soviet Union blocked the allies from sending supplies and shipments to western Berlin. They blocked the Allies by railway, road and canal. The Americans were forced to join with the British to joint an operation to deliver supplies and food to the starving and desperate west Berlin. -
Berlin Airlift
The Berlin air lift was needed because the soviets had set up a blockade to starve out Berlin. The U.S and Britain sent aircraft full of supplies to Berlin and had feed and kept Berlins people from starvation. The U.S. proved that it was a new world power and defender of the free world. -

NATO or North Atlantic Treaty Organization was formed to defend each country that was a member in case of an invasion or an attack that lead to a war. Almost all members have an active army and are located in Europe. This organization was necessary to defend capitalism and the global economy. -

The Chinese communist revolution was led by the communist Chinese political party. This forced the group to proclaim the peoples republic of China. After the Sino-Japanese war. The revolution was lead by the chairman of the communist party Mao Zedong. -

The Korean War was between South Korea(supported by the U.N) and North Korea(supported by China and the Soviets). The two battled until the U.N. troops were forced back into South Korea. The two nations decided on dividing at the 38th parallel and have never fully ended the war. -

Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of espionage for the Soviet Union. They were convicted of sharing top secret data about nuclear weapons in development by the U.S. Both were executed and there accomplices were sentenced to prison. -
Army McCarthy Hearings
The Army McCarthy Hearings were trials held by the U.S. senate's subcommittee. They were investigating army members and soldiers on accusations of preferential treatment. The case was between U.S. senator Joseph McCarthy and the U.S. military. There were alleged infiltration's within the ranks and possible security risks that were giving out top secret data. -

The Warsaw Pact was signed in Warsaw Poland. It was signed between the Soviet union and seven other socialist republics. The pact was to establish an economic trade between the groups that signed. This pact was made to counter the NATO forces. the main goal of the pact was for Russia a world leader to control more military powers on eastern Europe. -
Hungarian Revolution
Also known as the Hungarian uprising was a revolt against the Hungarian peoples republic. It lasted a month and the country was leaderless. this was the first loss in soviet control and thousands of people wanted new reform and to drive out the soviets. many organized into militias and the government quickly collapsed. -
Bay Of Pigs Invasion
The bay of pigs incident was a failed attempt made by the C.I.A. to use Cuban exiles to over throw Fidel Castro and the Cuban revolution. The C.I.A. sponsored and trained forces to combat and fight Fidel Castro but the plans went wrong and the mission end in a horrible slaughter and failure. -
U2 Incident
The U2 Incident was an american aircraft shot down by the soviet union while taking Ariel photos and surveillance. This raised tensions to an all time high. The plane was claimed as a civilian plane working for NASA collecting weather data. The soviets uncovered images of soviet military bases and the U.S. admitted the planes real mission. -

The Berlin was was a long wall that physically blocked west Berlin and east Berlin. It was made by the soviets to form an Iron curtain and keep communism and capitalism separate.
