    The Compromise of 1850 was proposed by Henry Clay a senator from Kentucky. California was added as a free state, and slavery would be illegal in Washington, D.C. It passed a new Fugitive Slave Act which said anyone who helped a fugitive would be fined or imprisoned.

    Fort Sumster was a U.S fort on a island guarding charleston harbor. The fort was very low on supplies so they demanded supplies immediatily. Lincoln responded by sending an unarmed group to the fort with supplies. But then that never happened so they went into battle but could'nt do anything because they did'nt have supplies.
