Trigger to the Civil War
A small island, Fort Sumter guarded the entrance of Charleston Harbor. The Confederate Army began to attack it. (It was in the middle of the Confederate's land.) The soldiers on the island were running out of supplies very fast. Pressident Lincoln decided to send a ship of supplies and amo to them, but the ship turns around, with fear that it will be shot. Everyone on the island dies. -
Battle of Wilson's Creek
Also known as "The Bull Run of the West," this battle was fought in Springfeild, Missouri. The Unions attacked the Confederates. 1317 Union soldiers were killed, wounded, and captured, and 1230 Confedertate Soldiers were killed, wounded, or captured. In the end, teh Confederates won the feild. -
Battle of Santa Rosa Island
At midninght, Richard Andersn led 1200 men toSanta Rosa Island to surpirse the Union camps. The Unions won. -
Emancipation Proclamation
Abraham Lincoln issued to this to free all slaves. It took a while for this to happen, but many slaves were freed immediately. This was also in the Thirteenth Amendment. -
The Battle of Gettysburg
This battle in Pensylvania was the most important battle for the North. A general of the Confederates' tried to invade the North, but they fought strong, and sent hikm back home. -
The Signing of the Treaty at the End of the War
Though it was more of a surrender, the Confederate Army and the US army united. This took place at Appomattox Court House.
