Chattanooga
The Rebel siege of Chattanooga ends as Union forces under Grant defeat the siege army of Gen. Braxton Bragg. During the battle, one of the most dramatic moments of the war occurs. Yelling "Chickamauga! Chickamauga!" Union troops avenge their previous defeat at Chickamauga by storming up the face of Missionary Ridge without orders and sweep the Rebels from what had been though to be an impregnable position. "My God, come and see 'em run!" a Union soldier cries. -

Appomattox Courthouse
It was the final engagement of Confederate States before it surrendered to the Union Army, and one of the last battles of the American Civil War. Lee retreated west hoping to join his army with the Confederate forces in North Carolina. Union forces pursued and cut off the Confederate retreat at Appomattox Court House. Lee launched an attack to break through the Union force to his front. He had no choice but to surrender when he saw the Union forces. -
Assassination of Lincoln
He was shot on Good Friday while attending the play Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre as the American Civil War was drawing to a close. It occured 5 days after the Confederate Army surrendered. The assassination of Lincoln was planned and carried out by the well-known stage actor John Wilkes Booth. Though Lincoln died, Booth's plot failed. -
