Was the turning point of the war. This was the beginning of the Confederacy's fall. There were more than 50,000 deaths, this was a catastrophe for the south but a great victory for the north. -
Appomatox Court House
General Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomatox Court House in Virginia and the war was over.
