    This was a movement in Albany, GA. The purpose was to desegregate transportation, but it went even broader. It resulted in a failure.
  • March on Washington

    March on Washington
    Martin Luther King Jr. led more than 250,000 people in a movement at Washington, D.C. This is where he gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. The purpose was to convince the government to pass a Civil Rights Act.

    Civil Rights Act
    After the March on Washington, President Lyndon B. Johnson asked Congress to pass a law that banned segregation. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed, and Jim Crow Laws were destroyed for good.
