King Henry 8th and his daughter Elizabeth 1st, took advantage of the new way of travelling, to trade for both political and commercial reasons. -

King of Ireland
In 1541 King Henry 8th, made himself king of Ireland. And by that time, he started importing products like Wine and Cheese from France. -

The thirteen colonies formed the core of Britain's colonies -
Triangular Trade
In 1750 the Triangular Trade, evolved Britain, The West Coast of Africa and the Carribean/America. Slaves were an important part of this trade. The britains kidnapped them in Africa, and brought them to the Caribbeans where they were supposed to make products like Cotton, Sugar and Tobacco. -
The American war of Independence
When America gained independence in 1776, they had to look elsewhere for other territories. Some of those territories that came under the British crown, were Australia and New Zealand. And even though America became independent, Canada still remained loyal to the British Crown. -
The White Man's Burden
In 1851 Britain decided to celebrate their accomplishments and achievements. This took place in Hyde Park in London. -
India, a British colony
India became a Britian colony between 1847-1858. This was because of the spices, silk and other products they were able to produce. The other reason was because the Suez canal, was reasonably important if u wanted to spare time when traveling to India. -
The Scramble of Africa
In 1884 the present of the european head of states, divided the continent Africa between them, without any Africans being present. Britain got the land from Cairo to the north Cape Province in the south. -
1st World War
After the 1st world war, Germany was forced to give up some of their territories to the allied forces. One of them was Britain. Britain increased their already huge empire so it reached its peak in the 1920s -
WW2 A new power
After World War 2, Britain looked like a country on its way down, while America looked like a country on its way up. The world has experience a new source of superpowers. The US and the Sovejet union.
