She started shouting which woke up the family maid Bridget Sullivan in whom they called her Maggie. The later for find Abby Borden, stepmother of Lizzie Borden, laying dead on her bed.

She discussed with a family friend that night about how her father yelled a man away the same day and that, that man could ne a suspect. They questioned her actions and said they were not lady like. Then Lizzie goes on about its the most ghastly thing she has ever seen, seeing her father dead like that.

She was frantic when they tried to ask her questions because of how scared and nervous she was. Bridget thought she was going to get arrested and that frightened her even more, but all the policemen and detectives wanted to do was ask her questions.

    Marshal Hillard, a detective at the time, came to the Borden house to announce his arrst for Lizzie Borden. Everyone was surprised, even Lizzie herself. Lizzie’s sister broke down into tears instantly and was the most frightened of them all. Lizzie herself was scared but was trying to hide it, but the only thing she could do was hold back her tongue and tears, the rest of her body was trembling.

Lizzie was to be in custody for the remaining time without bail. Everyone on the streets knew about Lizzie Borden and despised her due to them thinking she was guilty. Though the only evidence the court had was curcumstanial evidence that would really be able to convict her of the murder.

But more juicey details came out in a paper because one person heard every word that Lizzie and Emma had in an arguement saying, “You gave me away, Emma, didn’t you?,” this conversation was private and should have never been heard and it made people assume that Lizzie and Emma was hiding something that could get her into even more trouble.
