Liesel, a young girl and her little brother, Werner, are on the train to their new home. -

Werner, Liesel's little brother, died on the train. They bury him in the snow and Liesel finds a book called "The Grave Digger's Handbook" -
Liesel arrives on Himmel Street in Molching
She arrives in a car(her first car ride) to Himmel Street in Molching. The foster mother is already getting mad at Liesel. Liesel got used to Hans which is the foster father. The foster mother is named Rosa. -
Liesel goes to school and meets a new friend
Liesel goes to school after she finally took a shower. While there, she meets Rudy who plays soccer with her. They both walk to and from school, they become great partners in crime. -
Nightmares and learning
Liesel has been getting Nightmares ever since that tragic death in the train. The Grave Diggers Handbook was discovered. Hans wanted to teach Liesel how to read. -

Liesel and Hans finish the Grave Diggers Handbook. On Christmas, Hans gives Liesel 2 new books🤑 -
Letters
In school, Liesel was told to write letters. She wanted to write a letter to her mother, not her foster mother, but to her original mother. She stole some money to send her letter and Rosa found out. Gave her a spanking because of it. -
Hitlers Birthday
On Hitlers birthday, there was a fire in town. They were burning anything that went against the Nazi's. After the men separated from the fire, Liesel went up and stole a book from the fire. She stole The Should Shrug -
The Library
Liesel was afraid to go up to the Mayors house because she saw someone watch her steal the book from the fire. She gathered the courage to knock on the door for the laundry. The Mayor's Wife answered and told her to come in. Liesel followed her to their library where Liesel can read all she wants. -
A familiar Face
Max, a man who's father died protecting Hans, Shows up in front of the the Huberman's door. He wants protection from the Nazi's and moves into the Basement of the house -
Birthday Present
Liesel Is given another book on her birthday. Max did not know it was her birthday therefore, he did not have a gift. He made a book about his life and gave it to Liesel as her birthday gift. -
Book of Bad news😡
Liesel is handed a book from the Mayors Wife, Ilsa. Inside the book is a letter saying that her mother is fired basically. Liesel gets mad because she thinks Ilsa is trying to compensate her with the book. While she was mad, Liesel's brother appears, but Liesel pushes him away. He gets injured and disappears. -
The Whistler and Proof of true Friendship
Liesel was so mad that she wanted to steal from the Mayor. One day, the window was open for a chance to steal. She stole the Whistler and got out of there. On the way home, A gang that they used to work for pulled up. The leader was mad at them and threw the Whistler in the water. After chasing the book, Rudy got the book back for Liesel. -
Snow of despair and Illness.
Liesel wanted to show Max the snow outside so brought the snow inside. They had fun, but the fun turned into something bad. Max turned ill and it was a very dreadful moment while he was sick. -
Presents and "resurrection"
Liesel wanted to give presents to Max while he was sick. She gave max a total of 13 presents. While Max was sick she stole another book, "The Dream Carrier." Rosa arrived in Liesel's school to "yell" at her, but it was just telling Liesel that Max woke up. -
Bomb Shelter Search
NSDAP Starts searching for eligible homes to protect people from bombs. They went door to door searching through basements. The Huberman's were panicking not knowing where to hide Max. NSDAP arrived at their door and max had to hide fast. They didn't get caught and their basement was not eligible for bomb shelter. -
Sirens
When you hear the Sirens it means that you need to enter in the nearest bomb Shelter. A real raid occurred and Liesel's family went to Rudy's place since it was a bomb shelter. Everyone was panicked so Liesel started to tell a story to calm everyone down. -
Parade of Jews
Hans saw a very weak Jew and wanted to help him. Hans gave him bread, but was severely punished for it. -
A visit to the wrong house. Rudy Leaving?
Hans was expecting a soldier to visit their house for that act. One soldier did but was mistaken by one house. They headed over the Rudy's house and wanted Rudy to join a Elite party. Rudy's father said they aren't taking him and wanted to replace Rudy. -
Letter of recruitment
Hans receives a letter asking him to join the war. He accepts and had to leave. -
Christmas Present
On Christmas, Rosa gives something that Max left behind. It was a book called the word shaker. Max told rosa to give it to her when she was ready. -
Cookies
Liesel steals from Ilsa once again. She finds a plate with cookies on it. she takes the plate and another book called The Last Human Stranger. -
Giving back
Liesel goes up to the Mayor's house to give back the plate. She apologies for all she did and gave back the plate. Werner appears next to her completely healed. -
Hans gets into an accident
While riding in a truck, Hans and the rest of the soldiers all get into an accident. The truck rolls and injured some, one death, and some uninjured. Hans was lucky to get a fractured leg. Hans returns home to Liesel and Rosa. Rudy is kind of mad that it wasn't his father. -
Liesel Finds max. Confession
Liesel finds Max in a Jewish parade. Max left when they thought a Nazi soldier would come to their door. She was glad to see him, but it was only for a couple of minutes. Liesel tells Rudy that a Jew was living with them. -
The bombing of Himmel Street
One night, while Liesel was in the basement, Himmel Street was bombed. Killing almost everyone Liesel knew, Liesel was broken. Rosa, Hans, Rudy, and others were killed in the bombing. Everything was destroyed. -
Death and Liesel
Liesel lived to 73 years old. She died with a happy family. Death told her that he had her book that she wrote. He read it a lot and understood it. Death thought of humans as unpredictable and he was afraid of them.
