Liesels brother dies and finds her first stolen book(the grave diggers handbook)lying in the snow after someone is done with a grave -

train
leisel was taken to a train and moved to a different city -
new home
leisel was taken to a new home on himmel(german for heaven) street. this is where she met mama and papa.

papa-loved rolling and smoking cigarettes -
leisel
she lost her brother
she was bullied by rosa -
reading
papa. the friend. he came to see leisel and saw she had wet the bed when she had the same nightmare over and over again.
papa helped clean her up. leisel, as a friend held out her first book. she couldnt read it but papa could. he said it was the grave diggers handbook.
leisel said she couldnt read so papa helped her. every night they stayed up and read one page. -
writing
the reading wasnt enough to know because she was set down a few grades because she couldnt write.
that was true so papa helped her with it. so every word that leisel never knew she had to write it on the basement walls.
after a month she went back to her own grade and was an apprentice in reading and writing -
max arrives
Max Vandenburg(the jew) is at the doorstep of the hubermanns. papa opens the door of hiding max in the basement but knows that the're in immense danger, but also know that leisel has a new friend. -
standover man
Max writes the standover man for leisel telling her that he went through alot more bullying problems than her -
perfect german warrior
rudy is called up to the front office to go with a nurse and two other boys. rudy only knew one of these boys. that boy was alex steiner. the nurse and principal forced them to undress for an examination for the german war leaders. -

when himmel street gets raided by bombs everyone is asleep. as soon as the bombs dropped, they destroyed himmel street and its people. leisel is the only one alive because she was all alone, sleeping in the basement. when she awoke she cried and death came for the people. she was moved to sydney and death came back saing this when leisel asked did you,death, understand my book(the book thief)? Death replied:I AM HAUNTED BY HUMANS
