Liesel and her Brother were headed to live with their new foster parents. While on the train trip, Liesel's brother had died, it was tramatizing for Liesel as soon as she noticed her brother was sitting next to her lifeless. -

Liesel felt awkward towards Hans and Rosa, so Hans made her feel more welcomed and began to conversate and show her his daily tourtorials. This put Liesel in a position to began a strong bond with Rosa and especialy Hans. -
Liesel's Nightmares pg.36&37
Liesel would begin to have nightmares about her brother's death and would wake up screaming in her sheets, flooded with pee. Hans would come to her room everynight to calm her down to show his support for Leisel. This was the start of a trusting relationship between Hans and Liesel. -

After burring her brother, Liesel found a black book on the ground book named the "The Grave Digger's Handbook". She steals the book as a way to show respect for her brother's lost. -

It was time for Leisel to transition from your mother on to her new foster parents, Hans and Rosa Huberman, on Himmel street in Molching, Germany. It began to be difficult for Leisel to get comfortable in her new location as she refused to get out of the car. -

School was difficult for Leisel. Because she didn't know how to read and write, she was placed in a class with younger kids, as she reffers to them the "midget chidlern". -
Liesel meets Rudy pg.45 to 48
Liesel met Rudy while playng soccer with the kids on Himmel strreet. Rudy is known to be obessed with the American athlete, Jesse Owens. Their relationship begins strong between each other once Rudy explains the people and things on Himmel street and continually spend time with Liesel. -
Discovering the stolen book pg.64 to 68
Liesel had one of her nights with the usual bed wetting and nightmares. Hans came to her like he always did, but on this particular night it was different because he discovered the "Grave digger's book" Liesel has been hiding In her room ever since she got there. Hans deiced to teach Liesel how to read by using the book and also teaching her how to purnounce words using the alphabet. -
Liesesl first reading apparence pg.76 to 79
After Hitler Invaded Poland and WWII had started, Liesel had moved up to her rightful year level. Her teacher pretends like she is not in the classroom and when she called the list of names, Rudy explained how she missed Liesel. Then the teacher said how she could not read, but Liesel didn't let that stop her from reading to the class. She began to struggle with reading the words, so the kids made fun of her. Then Liesel began beating the kids up and got in trouble. -
Hans and Liesel finish reading the "The Grave Digger's Handbook" pg.86
Hans wakes up Liesel, after she had her nightly nightmares. They begin reading the last chapter of "The Graves Digger's Handbook".. When they started reading Hans was struggling to stay awake while reading it to Liesel, who was patient. Then finally they finished the book past three o'clock. -
Christmas with the Hubbermans pg.88 to 89
Leisel had assume since the Hubbermans were broke that she wasn't going to get anything for Christmas, but little did she know Hans had gotten her a two small books. A few days after Christmas Liesel had a thought that had been on her mind on how they could afford those books. Hans told her how he traded his rolled up cigarettes for the books. -

Rosa costumers have amitted that they can not pay for their laundry anymore because how money is so tight for them. She sent Leisel to do her job since she thinks the people would pay if they were being charged by a child. -

Liesel had wrote a letter to her mother, who has not send one back to her. Liesel birthday was comming up, so she decided as her present to herself she should mail all the letters she wrote to her mother with the laundry money. Rosa finds out and gets anrgy at her then sentamentle because it finally came to Liesel that she would never see her mother again. -

Hans finds Liesel while she was still upset on the man's speech. It got her thinking that they might have taken her mother away and the reason why she she's there in the first place. Liesel was angry at Hitler and wants to know why is he even a leader anyway. She gets slapped by Hans to get herself together this show her a differnt perspective since they've been close friends. -
Hitler's birthday pg.101
Germany is celebrating Hitler's birthday. The Nazi party members go around to house to house collecting any enemy propaganda for the burning. Hans Junior and Trudy had visited to spend time together until Hans Junior asked Hans why he isn't apart of the Nazi Party anymore, but that argument sent Hans Junior walking out of his dad. -

Later that same day on Hitler's birthday. Liesel marches with the Hitler youth divisons and they all gather around the bonfire and listen to a speech about the celebration they were having and also mentioned commumist which makes Liesel think about her mother and father. -

The clean up crew was cleaning up the bonfire. Liesel noticed another book from the ashes named "The Shoulder Shrug". she tucks it underneath her shirt while it was painfully burning her ribs. She also realized someone had witnessed her. -

On the way home, Hans notices that Leisel had stolen another book. She think that he's going to tell Rosa, but he doesn't. Even though he was amused by her crime, Hans had warned her to stop stealing more books. -

Liesel steals her second book called "The Shoulder Shrug" at a burning book event on Fuhrer's birthday. -
Afriad to collect laundry at the Mayor's house pg.133
When Liesel stole the book after the bonfire, she saw that she had a witness and the person who saw her was the mayor's wife. She has been afraid and trying to aviod to collecting laundry from the mayor's house because she think she might get in trouble. -
The Mayor's library pg.133
On one of Liesel's visit to the Mayor's house, the Mayor's wife motioned Liesel to come inside. Lesiel hesitated, so the Mayor's wife went back inside and came back with a stack of books to draw her in. She takes Leisel to her library and Liesel thinks it's the beautiful thing she's seen. -
Liesel's Summer
Liesels spends her summer reading the "The Shoulder Shrug". She also plays soccer, reads in Frau's library, and steal apples with Rudy -
Candy
Liesel and Rudy find a pfennig and bought a single piece of candy from Frau. They split it together. -
Stealing
Liesel and Rudy continue to steal from the farmers with their friends. The also steal from Otto Sturm, a boy who delivers food to the priests every Friday. They share this with the gang and decide to take the basket back to Otto. They steal from a potato farmer who chases them with an ax. Rudy gets caught in the fence and gets rescued by Aruther and Rudy. The whole gang goes back to Frau and buy a pile of mixed candy. -
Max pg.157
There is a young starving Jewish man by the name of Max who is on a train heading towards Himmel street, to meet Hans Hubberman. A unknown man gives him goods with food, idenity card that is tucked inside the book "Mein Kampf", map with directions, and a key, then told him he will be back in three days. These items he had recieved will help him to not be noticed since he is a Jew. -
Max part 2 pg.159
We return back to Max while he is still riding the train. After spending weeks in the storage closet, Max's friend, Walter made his last delivery which included food, a razor, and a train ticket to head to Pasing. He reads Mein Kampf and inside the cover is a key. -

Max travels closer to The Hubberman's residence. He has memorized the map and walks to Himmel Street. He pulls the key from his pocket and struggles with the door. When he comes across Hans, he askes does he still play the accordian? -
Liesel's Birthday
Liesel recieves another book, The Mud Men, from Mama and Papa for her birthday. Max says that he would have gotten something for her if he had known it was her birthday. -
Standoverman
When Max had nothing to give to Liesel for her birthday, he took it upon himself to make her a book, about his own life. He called it The Standover Man, and gave it to her a week after her birthday, when it was complete. -

On this day, Ilsa insists that Liesel takes the book that she has been reading in the library, The Whistler. Once Liesel finally agrees, Ilsa gives Liesel the bad news; an envelope to cancel Mama's service. -

On her way home, Liesel became very angry at Ilsa. Liesel turned around and went back to the mayors house, and expressed her anger to Ilsa. She then gives The Whistler back to Ilsa. -

For the weather report on Christmas eve, Liesel brought in handfuls of snow for Max. The handfuls turned into buckets, and the snow turned into a snowman in the basement. -

As a result of playing with the snow, Max falls terribly ill and falls into a coma. -

After bombings of other Germany towns, the NSDAP decide to prepare in case of an attack on Himmel Street. To do so, they need to check bbasements of houses for suitable air-raid shelters. When they check the basement at the Hubermann's house, they don't notice Max. -
Track and Field "Hitler Youth" pg.362
For Hitler Youth, there was a track and field day. Every youth was expected to participate. Rudy did exceptionally well, placing first in three out of four events. The fourth race, he was disqualified. Liesel did not do quite so well. She didn't win a single medal. After the day, Rudy and Liesel are together, and Rudy leaves his gold medals for Liesel to have. -

Liesel goes on her own to the library today, and steals the second book to her trilogy, A Song in the Dark. -

Liesel kept everyone in her air-raid shelter calm by reading to them. This was very successful, and they were safe before she could finish reading the chapter. -

On their way to a concentration camp, Dachau, Jews were marched as a parade through Himmel street. Meny people gathered on ther street to watch the parade. -

After Liesel's actions in the air-raid shelter, Holtzapfel asks Liesel if she would come and read to her. In exchange for the reading, Holtzapfel would stop spitting on the door, and would also give Liesel coffee. -

During the parade of Jews, there was one Jew who was extremely weak and could barely walk. Hans was a very brave man, and gave this Jew a chunk of bread. The Jew was very grateful for Hans' actions, but Hans was whipped and beaten by a soldier. -

The purpose of the coat men going to speak to Rudy and his family was to take him away to a school. He was part of the aryan race. He was intelligent, athletic, and was German.Of course, the Steiners refused to sent Rudy with the coat men, and Alex Steiner recieves a whipping and beating for the refusal. -

After Hans' generosity, giving the bread to a Jew, nobody could be sure as to wether a Nazi member would come and give a thorough search to their house. FOr these reasons, they agreed that it would be safest for Max to leave. -

After Hans' incident with the Jew, the NSDAP finally accept him into the NSDAP. This was his punishment for his actions. -

When Liesel goes to Frau Holtzapfel's house to read, she is greeted by a man. This man, is Frau Holztapfel's son, Michael. He is here because his brother, Frau Holtzapfel's other son, died in the war, so Michael came to tell Frau Holtzapfel. -

Liesel felt really bad about taking the cookies and the plate from the library. She decided to give the plate back. She brought the plate to the door, knocked, and ran away. After this action, Liesel never had nightmares again. -
Hans accident pg.476
Hans and his troop were in their truck on their way to the camp. Hans had allowed another man to sit in his seat. That was a very lucky move for Hans, unlucky for the other man. One of the wheels was punctured, and the truck rolled. The man in Hans' seat died, but Hans suffered only a broken leg. -

After the accident, Liesel and Mama recieved a letter from Papa. It explained what had happened, and stated that he was coming home, alive. -

These two days brought Liesel to read fifty-four pages out of her books while in the air-raid shelter. -

After the bombing of Munich was finished, a samll fire and smoke was noticed near the river. Rudy went to see what it was, and Liesel followed. When they reached the source of the smoke, a plane and pilot was discovered. The pilot was alive, barely. Rudy placed a teddy bear on the pilots shoulder, the man thanked Rudy, then took his last breath. -

Liesel became angry one day while visiting the library, and she ruined one of the books. To apologize, Liesel wrote a letter, and in it she claimed that she would stop visiting the library. Ilsa goes to Liesel's house, and gives Liesel a black journal. Ilsa wanted Liesel to write her own story if she wasn't going to visit the library any longer. -
The end of Himmel street pg.498
This day marks the end of many lives on Himmel Street. To be more specific, everyone but Liesel dies. The sirens rang much to late for anyone to get to the air-raid shelters. Liesel was lucky. She was already in her own basement. Although it was not a designated air-raid shelter, it saved her life. -
Saying goodbye pg.536
Since Liesel is the only survivor of the Himmel Street bombing, she says goodbye to all of her dead family and neighbours. She begins with Rudy. He finally gets his kiss. Next is Mama for she can't bear to look at Papa yet. She told Mama some of the memories she had of Mama. Finally is Papa. She says goodbye to Papa by giving him his accordion, kissing his shoulder, and thanking him for all that he did for her.
