  • 1620 - Beginning of Football

    In North America they played a game called pasuckuakochowog. It was a rough game that was played mostly on the beech, there was around 1000 players playing at one time with goals 1 mile wide apart.
  • 1800 - Industrial revolution

    In 1800 most serfs now worked in factories were they could work for longer and it wasn't weather depended unlike working on the land. Children as little as 4 years old also had to work clearing up as they were the only ones capable of doing so. Therefore Sport back then wasn't as popular because everyone had to work to live. Now a days people have so much free time they can go out with friends and play some sports.
  • Agricultural Society

    In agricultural times, sport wasn't as popular as it is now a days. People were limited of what they could do and when. People were split into 3 categories which were the Serfs working class, skilled workers, and the lords, knights and kings known as the upper class They completed activites that had similarities to sport.The serfs workers done activites such as mob football and this shows how football became more popular and where the idea originated.
  • 1830 - Modern form of football

    In 1830 Modern form of soccer has been originated in England. Soccer grew among working class communities, which was a good thing because it kept the children and kids outside instead of sitting at home. Soccer then started to grow even more and people loved to go out sometimes and kick a leather ball around
  • 1848 - Football Goals

    In 1848 Cambridge Rules stated that a gaol should be awarded when the ball passes through 2 posts and a piece of string across the top.
  • 1862 - The first soccer club

    In 1862 the first soccer club formed anywhere outside England was the Oneida football club, Boston USA
  • 1863 - The football Association

    In 1863 The FA was formed by Eleven London teams. They went together and established a set of rules on how Soccer should be played. For example; Offside rule. It was developed so that any player ahead of the defenders could not get passed by his team mate therefore it was harder to score and the games ended less than before. Later in the year, the first ever match played was in Barnes common at a mort lake. Between Barnes Football Club and Richardson football club the game ended 0-0 Draw.
  • 1863 - More modern Goals

    In 1863 newly formed football association drew up their rules and said that the football posts should be 24 feet apart
  • 1869 - Further development of rules

    in 1869 The rules of Football was further developed by adding rules such as; Throwing’s, Corner kicks, Free kicks. Meaning the game of football was more organized and players won't be running around the whole pitch. It was much more organized and fun because the players had to be more careful and skillful to dribble with the Ball
  • 1870 - Influence of public schools

    In 1870 public schools became available however only for richer people, people who could afford it. Soccer was one of the popular sports in public schools and that how the rules developed.
  • 1872 - First official international match

    In 1872 The first official international game was played in Scotland Glasgow, The Game was played by England and Scotland the final score of the game ended at 0-0 Draw.
  • 1882 - England Beat Ireland 13-0

    In 1182 England has beaten Ireland 13-0 and was known as the biggest win of all time by international teams.
  • 1888 - Penalty kick rule introduced

    In 1888 the penalty kick rule has been introduced to football. The penalty kick happens when the opposite team member slides in rough or doesn't follow the rules of football in the penalty area. E.g. hand balls or plays rough. This rule was introduced by a Irish guy called William McCrum
  • 1889 - First team to win England League

    In 1889 Preston North End was the first team to win the England League.
  • 1890 - Goal nets inveneted by Liverpool

    In 1890 Liverpool has created more modern football goals. The nets at the back of the posts are now more like a cuboid shape and doesn't go straight down from the crossbar.
  • 1900 - Football was played at the Olympics for the first time

    in 1900 Football was played on the Olympics for the first time. Only 2 matches were held between the three club sides and no medals were awarded
  • 1930 - FIFA First world cup tournament

    in 1930 FiFA Held Soccer's first word cup tournament Montevideo, Uruguay with 13 teams
  • 1932 - Soccer taken off the Olympics

    In 1932 Soccer has been taken off the Olympics in Los Angeles Due to a controversy of FIFA and IOC because of the expense involved.
  • 1991 - Women's soccer

    In 1991 Women's could also play soccer for big tournaments. The united states women team has one their first world cup in China
  • 1992 - Sky sports inveneted

    In 1992 Sky sports developed meaning people that couldn't play soccer was able to watch most sport Live through Sky Sports. Once sky sports came to Television people could watch every sport LIVE. People that didn't have time for sport or couldn't play it could at least watch it through sky sports Live.
  • 2013 - Huge money involved in soccer

    In 2013 The biggest transfer of football history was made, Gareth Bale was bought for 89 Million by Real Madrid. It's a huge difference in the money involvement in soccer than it was in the 18's
  • 2014 - Goal line Technology

    In 2014 Goal line technology has be invented so that the games of Football will be more fair and there won't be any arguments between players and fans. Goal line technology is there so that if the ball passes the goal line but will be very hard to see for the referee, then the goal line technology will prove if the ball has passed the goal line or not.
  • 2015 - Vanishing foam spray

    In 2015 The vanishing foam spray has been invented to football especially to the referee. This spray allows the referee to see if the defender have moved closer to the free kicker. The referee simply sprays the vanishing foam spray next to the defenders and outlining the ball.
