The Japanese tried to lure the U.S. Pacific fleet into a battle near Midway Island. United States appeared to be losing at first, the United states built up and gained advantage, then sank 4 Japanese carriers. The Japs lost close to 250 planes.

The winter of 1941 stopped the German's from advancing. The red army made their stand at Stalingrad, then the German's began the 2 month firebombing campaign. In January of 43' more than 90,000 of the surviving German's surrendered.

U.S. troops invaded the island of Sicily with help of the British forces. Italy overthrew Mussolini, after this they surrendered to the allies and declared war on Germany.

In early June Western Europe began getting invaded, there were many casualties suffered. By August almost 2 million allied troops were already in France. By late August of 44' Paris was liberated from German occupation.

Germany planned a counterattack in Belgium and Luxembourg. They pushed the U.S. First Army back, forming a bulge in the Allied line. This battle was the largest battle in western Europe during WW II and the largest battle fought by U.S. Forces.
