    Moving from the town of corinth just south east of Shiloh, confederate general Beauregard moves a complicated formation through unfortunate weather. This stalls his attack untill april 6th.

    To the complete suprise of the union troops, confederate troop begain an attack on scattered camps of the union begining at 4:30 in the morning. due to the complecated formations and directions given by confederate general Johnson, formations quickly became disorganized.

    After a long morning of intense defensive fighting, the union just couldnt hold. the army of the west was unprepared and outnumbered. throughout the day the army would move back a full mile loosing precious ground and coutless supplies along with large numbers of soliders.

    The cries of the confederat soliders during there charge was almost all it took to make the union turn at first. there lines at first broke easily. later in the morning lines became stronger though. by noon the union waas already starting to hold some ground.

    The battle of shiloh was fought over two days. The leading union officers were Grant and Buell for the union, and Jonhston and Beaurgard for the confederates. the union had 43,000 troops aginst the confederates 6o,oo thousand. over 23,000 caualties would occur.

    On april 7th the union would suprise the confederats with reinforcment and a strong will to with the battle. by the end of the day all tides had turned. the union had put up an offensive attack that would drive the feds all the way back. the battle would be a union victory.
