THE TELESCOPE
While there is evidence that the principles of telescopes were known in the late 16th century, the first telescopes were created in the Netherlands in 1608. Spectacle makers Hans Lippershey & Zacharias Janssen and Jacob Metius independently created telescopes. -

Mayflower arrived in New England on November 11, 1620 after a voyage of 66 days. Although the Pilgrims had originally intended to settle near the Hudson River in New York, dangerous shoals and poor winds forced the ship to seek shelter at Cape Cod. -

William married Mary, daughter of James, Duke of York, on 4 November 1677 at Whitehall Palace. Some days after their marriage the Prince and Princess were accompanied by Charles II and the Duke to Erith, where they boarded separate yachts for their return to Holland. -

Antonio Vivaldi was a Venetian Baroque composer, violinist, printer, teacher and Catholic priest. He was nicknamed Il prete rosso because he was a priest and had red hair. -

The infamous Salem witch trials began during the spring of 1692, after a group of young girls in Salem Village, Massachusetts, claimed to be possessed by the devil and accused several local women of witchcraft. -
