captain arthur phillip and the first fleet arrived at Botany Bay on 9 ships and 2 war ships and 750 convicts.
They found an area that they could not settle on, instead they settled on sydney cove in port Jackson in january the 26th which now is Australia day. -
Gold rush
the discovery of gold near bathurst by edward hargraves in that year new south wales had about 200,000 people and a third of them with in a days ride of sydney the rest of them scattered alog the coast and through the pastoral districts. -
Maybanke Anderson
Maybanke Anderson came to Sydney as a child in January.
Maybanke Anderson started school in sydney. at the same time she became interested in womans rights.Maybanke Anderson helped form the womanhood suffarage league of New South Wales she also had a strong saport of Fediration. -
New South Wales and victoria given more power
In 1855 the british parlament gave New South Wales and Victoria full self-government and it was callled Responsible Government wich meant the two colonies were now Responsable fo rthere own afairs. -
Colonies
Europian settlers spread out across Australia land in Tasmania,western Australia,South Australia,Victoria and Queensland.By 1860 all the settlements exept Western Australia were separated colonis and they had their own goverment and there own laws.
A new south wales polotition named Henery Parks had the idea of joining all the colonies together in a fediration to form one nation. -
bushrangers outlawed in new south wales
on the 8th of april 1865 in new south wales parliament passed law making bushrangers outlaws this meant they could be captured,dead or alive by any citizen without a warrant for their arrest. a mounth later on the 4th of may 1865 notorious bushranger ben hall was hunted down and shot by the police at his hideout at billabong creek his last words were i am wounded shoot me dead and he was shot 15 times. -
Sir Henery Parks
Sir Henery Parks premier of New South Wales and Sir Henery Pares was also the first leader of federation movement.
Sir Henery Parkes would of been 86 in 1901 but he died before fediration was able to be reliced in Australia. -

a young woman left her home in moama in the colony of new south walesand travelled across the border to give music lessons in wodonge and in the colonyb of victoria . -
A New Nation
The New Nation of Australia was proclamied in a centennial park,sydney on 1 january 1901. Sir edmund barton had chosen eight ministers to help him govern until elections could be held in march. -
