The apollo 13 Mission

  • the command module,odyssey,docks with the lunar lander,aquarius

    the odyssey completes the transposition maneuver, docking with aquarius at 5:14 P.M.

  • jack swigert leaves the orbit that will return them to the earth

    at7:53 P.M. Jack swigert fires odyssey's engines to leave the free-return trajectory

  • the crew compleates a broadcast

    at 8:56 P.M. the crew completes a televised broadcast and the white team at ground control requests a cryo stir of the oxygen and hydrogen tanks

  • oxgen tank 2 explodes

    9:07P.M. oxygen tank two explodes inside the service module and the swigert radios mission control to say "houston we've had a problem"

  • the crew must now use the lunar lander for the essentiels

    10:50P.M. the crew must power down the odyssey and power up the aquarius because the lunar lander has a life support system of its own

  • they use a free-return trajectory to return home

    at 2:43 A.M. they use aquarius's engines to get into a free return trajectory. witch is a return to earth by using the orbit of the moon to pull the craft into the gravity of earth

  • haise and swigert get veiw of the moon

    at 6:15P.M. the radio contact is lost when they orbit behind the moon and haise and swigert get there firs close up veiw of the moon and take many pictures of the moon

  • aquarius is beggining to build up carbon dioxide

    at 3:38 A.M. the crew begins to assemble canisters for aquarius to prevent any more carbondioxide build up

  • another explosion occours in the aquarius

    2:23 P.M. battery two in the aquarius explodes destroying one quarter of the remaining power

  • the craft drifts off course

    at 10:31 P.M. the crew fires aquarius's engine again to correct its path after drifting off course

  • the crew could see what happend to the ship

    at 7:14 A.M. the service module is jetisoned away so the crew can see the extensive damage that was done to the ship

  • the crew returns to the oddesy

    at 10:43 A.M. the crew returns to the odyssey to jettison aquarius

  • they begin re-entry

    at 11:53 A.M. the crew begins re-entry and loses contact with mission control
