People who called themselves patriots were taunting british guards, and eventually began to physically attack which made the guards act upon this, after all the gunfire and smoke cleared, 5 colonist were found dead.

They established a Continental army and elected George Washington as Commander-in-Chief, but the delegates also drafted the Olive Branch Petition and sent it to King George III in hopes of reaching a peaceful right.
