The Sons of Liberty were a Patriot political organization in secrecy, they were established to undermine British rule in colonial America and was a big part in organizing and carrying out the Boston Tea Party. -
Battles of Lexington & Concord
The British marched into Lexington and Concord intending to stop the idea of them rebelling taking away weapons from the colonist. Massachusetts colonists went against British authority to earn their independence. -

The Second Continental Congress met in Independence Hall 1775. It was just a month after shots had been fired at Lexington and Concord, Congress was preparing for war. -
Olive Branch Petition sent to England
The colonies were formally declared to be in rebellion by the Proclamation of Rebellion, and the petition was rejected by the British King. There was only 3 American negotiators. -
Thomas Paine’s Common Sense published
Common Sense challenged the authority of the British government. Paine used a plain language to speak to the common people of America and asked for independence from Great Britain. -
Battle of Trenton
George Washington’s army defeated a garrison of Hessian mercenaries at Trenton. It was the first victory the colonials had for a long time. -
Battle of Camden
More than 2000 British and Loyalist troops met and defeated about 4,000 American troops. It was one of Americas biggest defeats. -
Battle of Yorktown
British troops surrendered to the Continental Army and their French allies. This led to negotiations for peace with the British. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was signed by United States and British Representatives, ending the War of the American Revolution. Built peace between Great Britain and the allied nations. -

It was decided that three out of every five slaves were counted when deciding a state's total population for taxation. -
Bill of Rights Adopted
President Washington sent copies of the 12 amendments adopted by Congress to the states. Three-fourths of the states had ratified 10 of them. Now it's known as the Bill of Rights
