Stamp Act of 1765
An act to raise money for the British to raise an army in North America but like a big one. It was basically a tax on newspapers in the colonies. -
Townshend Act of 1767
An act that taxed glass, lead, paper, paint, and tea. The tax was to help pay for governing the American colonies. -
Boston Massacre
A confrontation where 9 soldiers shot into a crowd who were harassing them. They killed 5 and injured 6. -
Boston Tea Party
A protest held by the British, throwing tea into the Boston Harbor. They protested the high tax on tea. -
Intolerable Acts
4 laws passed by the British to punish those for the Boston Tea Party. They were aimed to isolate Boston since they were Anti-British. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
It was one of the first fights of the war. (Revolution) A violent fight against the British that made many Americans support the revolution. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The battle was to see if they could be friendly again and also hold out/hold their own in battle. The American Patriots lost and the British won. -
Battle of Trenton
The army crosses the Icy Delaware River. Washington won in only an hour of fighting and captured about 900 Hessian mercenaries in the process. -

The Americans had to surrender to the British. They were temporarily in control of southern colonies after. One of our most major loses. -

George Washington defeated Charles Cornwallis Army with the support of the French Army and Navy. He used trenches to lead his enemy into surrendering. -
Treaty of Paris
A treaty signed between American colonies and Great Britain to declare America as an independent nation. It also put an end to the American Revolution! -
3/5 Compromise
It was so slaves could vote and have a say but the whites still wanted control. So, they made it so that only 3/5 of their votes would be counted. -
Great Compromise
An agreement that defined the legislative structures and representation of all the states. Every state was now basically equal. It solved a very big disagreement.
