The American Revolution

  • Thomas Gage Leaderships

    From 1763-1775, Thomas Gage served as a commander in chief of the British forces in North America. He entered the military service seeing actions and battles starting with the French and Indian War, he also served alongside George Washington in the Battle of Monongahela. In 1774, he was appointed the military governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. He implemented the Intolerable Acts which punished Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party.

  • Midnight Ride Of Paul Revere

    Paul Revere warned that the British were coming to his town. That was his famous midnight ride because he knew before anoyone and it was a long distance to travel. He also carried a trunk around which had information as to where all the weapons were hidden and located.

    The Battle of Lexington was a major turning point within the American Revolution because it impacted the change of momentum. This battle was the first initial step toward America becoming a free country.

    The Battle of Concord was a turning point within the American Revolution becasuse there was a change in nature, During this battle, the Americans introduced and used Guerilla warefare tactics on the British.

    William Dawes was one of several people who warned colonists of the approach of British army troops prior to the Battles of Lexington and Concord at the outset of the American Revolution.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    After The Battle of Bunker Hill there was a major shift in momentum. The Battle of Bunker Hill boosted the army's morales because although they lost, the continental army proved that they could hold off the most powerful force at that time for 2/3 battles. Realizing they could do this, they used it as momentum to strive and work even harder to winning the next battle.

    George Washington assumes command of the Continental Army
    George Washington officially took command of the poorly trained and under-supplied Continental Army. Finally, aftter six years of struggle and a lot of setbacks, Washington managed to lead the army to key victories and eventually Great Britain surrendered in 1781
  • Treaty of Alliance

    As the American Revolution progressed, it became obvious to the Continental Congress that foreign aid and alliances would be necessary to achieve victory.A template was created for potential commercial treaties with France and Spain. Based on the ideals of free and reciprocal trade, this Model Treaty was approved by Congress. Formed in the midst of the American Revolutionary War, this promised military support in case of attack by British forces indefinitely into the future.

    The Battle of Trenton was a major turning point because it changed the momentum for the Americans, after winning this battle the American militia soon began to flock to the stand of Washington! After this victory, many of the soldiers who were going to leave to army, actually reenlisted. They also gained many supplies from the Hessians.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga had a change in resolution because after the victory over the British this convinced the French to help the colonies and since the French joined the Americans side this provided much more military support for the U.S. soldiers. It also showed the world that the continental army could defeat such a powerful army.
  • Benedict Arnold

    Benedict Arnold was a general during the American Revolutionary War who originally fought for the American Continental Army but defected to the British Army. While a general on the American side, he obtained command of the fortifications at West Point, New York, overlooking the cliffs at the Hudson River, and planned to surrender it to the British forces. After the plan was exposed in September 1780, he was commissioned into the British Army as a brigadier general

    The was a change and leading up to resolution because it involved the entire British force which was captured. The British had lost 910 men, 110 killed and 800 taken prisoner, as well as all of their supplies

    The Battle of Yorktown was a turning point because it was a change in resolution. The surrender of Cornwallis led to the Britain's final negotiations that ended the Revolutionary War and then the establishment of the USA.
