    Sugar Act
    This was the first of the taxes that Brittan forced onto the colonies. This tax increased the price of sugar. The colonists rebelled, and the tax was repealed.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    5 American colonists were shot by British troops. An African American male was killed. This event deepened the Colonists distrust of the British millitary.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Some American colonists disquised as Native Americans boarded 3 British ships. They dumpedn 342 crates of tea into the Boston harber.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The colonists had weapons stored in Lexington and Concord, so the Brittish decided to go there and sieze the weapons from the Colonists. However, Paul Revere decided to ride to Lexington and Concord to warn the colonists that the Brittish were coming. The colonists sucessfully drove the Brittish out.

    Thomas Paine published a pamphlet arguing in favor of the American Revolution. This pamphlet was viewed by almost every single colonist.

    America took Dorchester Heights, and aimed cannons down on Boston. The Brittish surrendered, and fled, with some Loyalists.

    France became an ally of the United States in May 1778. Their government sent money, weapons, troops, and warships to the Continental army. In addition, Spain began a fight against the British as well. Things were turning around for the Americans.
