Declaration of Independence Adopted
By issuing this document, the 13 colonies that made up America at that time broke off political connections with Britain. The Declaration basically summarized the reasons they were seeking independence. -

General George Washington's army defeated and captured almost 900 Hessian officers and soldiers. They also collected large amounts of cannons, swords, muskets, and bayonets. -

Treaty of Paris
This treaty ended the American Revolution. It also was a document that recognized the US and granted them western territory. -
The 3/5 Compromise
This was a compromise that basically said three out of every five slaves were counted when they determined the total state population for representation and taxation. This was an agreement between delegates from Southern and Northern states. -
Great Compromise
This created a two-house Congress: the House of Representatives which was based on population and the Senate with equal state representation. It balanced the interests of both large and small states. -
Bill of Rights Adopted
It's the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution that protect basic freedoms like speech and religion. It also ensures fair treatment in legal matters.
