The American Revolution

  • Lexington and Concord

    King George sent soldiers to Concord to check if the colonists were storing weapons. So the colonists sent a siege, the British won, so they went to Lexington. The colonists were prepared, so they pushed them back and won.
  • Bunker Hill

    The colonists fortified 2 hills near Boston. The British attacked and were pushed back twice before winning. The colonists ran out of gunpowder.

    Clinton takes the CAs and GA

    The British changed their strategy by starting the southern campaign. They believed the Loyalists would support them.
  • The defeat of New York

    Both armies met in NY, but since the Continental army was inexperienced, the British were winning. So they retreated, and the British followed.
  • Trenton

    After the Hessian's Christmas celebrations, they were surprised by the Continental Army. The Hessians surrendered without a loss.
  • Foreign officers arrive

    Washington had a Prussian officer to train their army.
  • Princeton

    300 British troops were captured.
  • Valley Forge

    The Continental army went to a place called Valley Forge. Winter arrived strong and killed many soldiers.
  • Saratoga

    Burgoyne arrived at Saratoga Springs to find him and his army surrounded. He surrendered.
  • Monmouth

    Once the British left PH, Washington sent his army to attack them. They chased them all the way to NJ.
  • Freed African soldiers join the war

    Freed African Americans joined the army, but Washington was worried some could be runaway slaves. So he banned them, but later with a shortage of soldiers he allowed them again.
  • Yorktown

    The British had an army in Yorktown VA, setting them up for battle. But in secret, Washington had an army block off the harbor. The fight lasted days.
  • End of the fighting

    The British finally surrendered at Yorktown, as the rebel and ally armies watched the British line up and lay down their arms.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Representatives from the US and England met up in France to sign a peace treaty that recognized the US as an independent country.
