    A fight between Britain and France, with Native American allies, over land in North America. This was important because Britain won, but since the war left them in debt, they had to tax the American colonies.

    This Battle was a major defeat for the British against French and Native Americans, showing the weaknesses in British military tactics. This loss could have led the British to change their strategies making their combat stronger.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    A British law that required American colonists to pay a tax on printed materials, like newspapers and legal documents. It was important to the American Revolution because it made a widespread protest and colonists were against “taxation without representation.”
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    A British law that taxed sugar and other imported goods to the American colonies. It was important because it made colonists angry making their hatred for Britain grow.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    Red coats shot into a large crowd of colonists, and many fights broke out. Crowds with hundreds of colonists throwing things at the red coats which caused them to fire. This was important because it marks one of the many battles that contributed to our independence from Britain.

    A protest by American colonists who dumped British tea into Boston Harbor to rebel against the tax on tea. This event was important to the American Revolution because it caused more tension, leading Britain to push harsher laws that continued to pit the colonies against British rule.

    It was the first battle between the British and colonists. It was important because it showed how the colonists would fight for their independence from Britain.

    The final attempt by American colonists in to avoid war with Britain by expressing loyalty to the king and seeking peace. Its was important because it convinced many colonists that independence was the only option, pushing them closer to the American Revolution.

    The colonists declare their independence from Britain in signing and ratifying the Declaration of Independence. This was an important event because once it was signed there was no turning back; the fight for independence had begun!
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The last major battle that was fought between George Washington and General Lord Charles Cornwallis's soldiers. This was important because after this war it would secure the colonist's freedom from Britain.
