    Governor Shirley feared that if a confrontation would to occur between the French and the French settlers that they would side with them, so the governor expelled the French Settlers to other British colonies. The Indians then sided with the French.

    The British officially declared War. The new Commander, Lord Loudoun was met with failure as the French and their Indian allies were stronger.

    The British appointed the secretary of state William Pitt to commander of wartime operations. William Pitt played a big role in the British victories.

    The British won their first battle at Louisburg. A month later they took over Fort Frontenac. .

    James Wolfe won in the Battle of Quebec. Though this was the British's victory, both the French Commander and the Marquess de Montcalm both were wounded fatally.

    Since the French lost their foothold in Canada, Spain joined forces with the French against the British. For the rest of the war the British decided to concentrate on taking over Spain and French territories in other parts of the world.

    The French and Indian War ended by the Signing of the Treaty of Paris. The British, French and Spain decided to exchange land with each other, which helped the Americans strengthen the colonies.
