    Washington moves his troops into New Jersey. Soon, the patriots have a surprise force of German troops fighting for Britian.

    The British takes Charleston, S.C. and captures a large patriot army, and deal the rebels one of their worse defeats of the war.

    Virgina was a decisive victory by a combined force of American Continental Army troops led by General George Washington. French Army troops led by the Comte de Rochambeau over a British Army, commanded by British lord and Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis.

    Adopted by the Continential Congress. Each state had one vote, and was to set up a central government with a 1 house legislature. Congress also had the authority to make war, and settle interstae disputes. (Had very little power to enforce new laws and could not regulate trade) Very strong, independent stae governments were formed.
