Battles of Lexington and Concord
General Gage needed to find arms and ammunition and sent troops to Lexington and Concord to because John Hancock and Samuel Adams had maps of where guns and ammunition were hidden. Paul Revere warned Hancock and Adams that the "regulars" were coming, and they got away because of it. -
Battle at Bunker Hill
Trying to take control of the citu the Colonists and British both wanted Bunker Hill, causing the battle. British think they won because they were the last ones standing because the Colonists strategy was to shoot them when they saw the whites of their eyes. This caused the colonists to run out of gun powder and bullets. The colonists thought the won because they killed more people. -
Battle of Trenton
George Washington, crossed the Delaware River, with 2,400 of his men. He did this so he could get the Hessians weapons. The Hessians were German Mercenaries hired by Great Britain to fight against the colonists. George Washington and his troops surrounded the Hessians on all sides . Due to the Hessians celebrating Christmas, they were passed out drunk. This made it easier for Washington to kill 30 Hessians, and take 918 prisoners and their weapons. -
Battle of Saratoga
Colonial guerilla forces, led by General Horatio Gates, harass the British and end up stretching their supply lines. The Britsh will eventually surrender. Saratoga is important because it is a major defeat for the British and shows the French that the colonies may be able to win the war because the French begin to supply arms, men, and their navy to help the colonies. -
Winter at Valley Forge
After colonists won at Saratoga, they set up camp at Valley Forge to wait for France’s arrival British had cut off Colonists' Philidelphia so they had to wait out the winter. 10,000 troops were stuck at Valley Forge all winter most died and those who didn'the were exposed to frostbite. -
Fight for Philadelphia
The Britsh and Colonists attempt to take control of Philadelphia. They wanted Philadelphia because it was where headquarters were. British had successfully taken control of Philadelphia. -
Battle of Yorktown
The French help the Continental Army with men, weapons, and warships. The Americans and the French attempt to corner the British, on a small peninsula and bombard them with cannon fire. The British will eventually surrender and end the American Revolution. The colonists win the American Revolution, due to the win. -
Treaty of Paris
Colonists, Britain, Spain, and Great Britain didn’t want Americans to get full independence. France wanted American Independence, but didn’t want them to have too much power. The Treaty ended the French and Indian War/Seven Years’ War between Great Britain and France. In the terms of the treaty, France gave up all its territories in North America, ending any military threat to the British colonies there
