Navigation Acts
It required all trade between England and the colonies to be carried through England. Causing the Americans to only export goods and not importing them. -
French and Indian War Ends
War between Britain and France over the new world. Britain came up victorious and took control of the land. -
Stamp Act
Britain taxed the colonists on stamps and other paper to make them help pay the war revenues that needed paid. The colonists were not happy. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers opened fire on a group of people harassing them on the street. This lead to the first attack into the Revolution from the people. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists disguised themselves and snuck onto the tea trading ships and dumped all of it into the Boston Harbor. They saw that if you’re gonna tax the tea then we are going to take it all from Britain. -
Tea Act
Britains way to reduce the amount of tea held by the British East India Company. The colonists rebelled immediately. -
Coercive/Intolerable Acts
The laws were made to punish the Massachusetts colonists after the Boston Tea Party incident. Every rules was enhanced and the British police had say over everything. -
1st Continental Congress
It was a meeting of delegates from 12/13 English colonies to discuss Britain and their future freedoms. -
2nd Continental Congress
It was a convention of delegates from each of the 13 colonies to discuss governmental matters. It was held right after the revolution had started. -
Lexington/Concord
This was the first military engagement against the colonist and the British, starting the American Revolution. This became known as a the ‘Shot Heard Around The World’ -
Declaration of Independence
The United States wrote the document that secured the Independence from Great Britain. It speaks of why the colonists are seeing their independence. -
Battle of Saratoga
This was the battle that gave the Americans victory over the British. This reached the climax of the war, where the Americans were seeing victory. -
Winter at Valley Forge
The freezing temperatures and diseases lead to many deaths on the Americans side. Through it hope was kept alive by General George Washington and they continued forward. -
Battle of Yorktown
The trapping and surrender of the British. This was the last of all military operations in the American Revolution -
U.S. Constitution Written
The document recognizes the laws and freedoms that the American people will establish in their new colony. The people have a say in the new country and freedoms to all equal. -
Constitution is Adopted
Over a year after the Constitution was born it finally was adopted when New Hampshire became the 9th state to ratify the constitution.
