Napoleon earned the title, Emperor of the French, after gaining more power. The pope was supposed to perform his ceromony, however Napoleon took the situation into his own hands. He placed the crown onto his own head, he wanted to show that he owed his throne to no one. -

Napoleon established this french civil code, which is why it is named after him. The code forbade privileges based on birth and allowed religious freedom. -

The southwest coast of Spain was faught off in this battle right after Napoleon was preparing to invade England. British Admiral Horatio Nelson completely overcame the French fleet. -
Joseph Bonaparte becomes King of Spain
Napoleon was known to give thrones of Europe to friends or family. His brother became the King of Spain when unseated the previous king. Napoleon was gaining control through forced diplomacy and this something common that he would do. -
The Battle of Wagram
Austrian's saught revenge after their previous defeat against Napoleon iat the Battle of Austerlitz. However, Napoleon won again at The Battle of Wagram. The Austrian's had ended up surrenduring lands. -
Invasion of Russia
Napoleon made the mistake of deciding to invade Russia. This happened because French and Russian rulers had suspisions of each other having competing designs on Poland and the fact that the Russian wouldn;t stop selling grain to Britian. -

Battle of the Nations occurred because of new alliences between Russia, Austria, Prussia, and Britian after the disasterous event in Russia. This caused Napoleon to fall from his power -
Napoleon’s exile to Elba
Napoleon had fibnally given up his throne after his generals refused to fight on. He had been banished to Elba. His allies wrongfully expected no further trouble from him. -
Napoleon’s exile to St. Helena
This exile occurred after his defeat at The Battle of Waterloo. St. Helena was an island in the South Atlantic and Napoleon is known to have never returned from there. -
Napoleon’s return
Napoleon had escaped his banishment and returned to France. This happened as allies gathered in Vienna for a general peace confernce. Louis XVIII had also fled as citizens cheered Napoleon’s advance, -
The Battle of Waterloo
He had expierenced a defeat at The Battle of Waterloo and was forced to go into exile on St. Helena. He ended up never returning.
