Du Bois was born in 1868 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
When Du Bois was a child he attended sunday school. In high school he realized that his skin color caused people to make fun of him. -

Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
Weeping family members wandered amoung the crushed bodies on the sidewalk, looking for there loved ones. More than 140 workers had died. This changed many saftey standards.
