  • Ida Tarbell

    Born in Western Pennsylvania. Daughter of the independent oil producer. In 1876 Tarbell entered Allegehney College. She was the only female in a class of 40.
  • W. E. B. Du Bois Birth

    Du Bois was born in 1868 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
    When Du Bois was a child he attended sunday school. In high school he realized that his skin color caused people to make fun of him.
  • The IWW (Industrial Workers of the World)

    This apposed capatilism. Founded in chicago in 1905. The IWW leader was William "Big Bill" Haywood made claims for the working class.
  • Ray Stannard Baker

    Toured the nation examining the plight of African American. He created a book it described a lynchingin Springfield, Ohio.This was a Muckracking book.
  • Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

    Weeping family members wandered amoung the crushed bodies on the sidewalk, looking for there loved ones. More than 140 workers had died. This changed many saftey standards.
